The normal adult blood pressure is 120/80 (systolic/diastolic). Blood pressure is measured when the heart beats and then when it is at rest. Systolic pressure is the pressure that the arteries are under while the heart beats. The diastolic pressure is the pressure that the arteries are under when the heart is at rest or not beating or contracting.
